Sketch PAW

Sketching is most people’s introduction to art and so we try to encourage as many people as possible to start, and then continue, to sketch.

Our Members are able to join the Purbeck Arts Club Sketching Programme (for a small fee to cover insurance)  – click here for more information. This programme includes Sketching at Concert Rehearsals, click here to view some drawings from past events.

Our Member Andy Knill offers free ‘Art for Fun’ activities all year round at his studio in Swanage. Have a look at his website for more information – andyknillartstudio

Members Sketching Programme

Over the years our sketching programme has taken us to some very beautiful local places.

We have been to Durlston Country Park and Castle, Corfe Castle Village, Studland Beach, Tynham Village, Swanage Lifeboat Station and Holme Garden Centre and Gardens to mention just a few. Below is a video of a sketching event at Encombe House, (by kind invitation of Arabella Gaggero).

One of our favourite places to go is RSPB Arne. We had our own sketching tent there for a couple of years, which was wonderful. Have a look at the video below from 2016 to see how we got on.

Sketch PAW 2019 Winning Entry

In 2019 we sold sketchbooks at Rollington Barn and asked you to carry them with you around the festival, and draw and sketch whatever inspired YOU in PAW and Purbeck. We also asked you to show us what you did on Instagram and Facebook by tagging #sketchpaw and #dalerrowney. There was a prize for the submission that best captured the spirt of PAW and this was the winner:

Congratulations to Joanne Martin!
