Artist’s Statement:

I am a retired architect living in Swanage. Working from my small home studio I like to capture scenes around the town, evocative particularly of people on their holidays. I work mainly with acrylics on canvas or board and sometimes in gouache and coloured marker pens. My pictures are informed by photographic images taken when I’m out and about and my time spent as a National Coastwatcher at Peveril Point. From a very young age I have always loved painting and drawing which was encouraged by my two elder siblings. Other than occasional classes here and there I have had no formal art training. In addition, since moving to Swanage, I have discovered the excitement of large scale art by becoming involved in scenery design for shows put on at our local Mowlem Theatre.
