Artist’s Statement:

Maria Burns is a professional illustrator and graphic designer who often draws on Purbeck’s stunning landscapes and wildlife around her for creative inspiration. She works in watercolour and mixed media collage. Maria trained as a natural history illustrator and has illustrated and designed many interpretation boards for nature reserves and historical sites. As well as completing exciting design projects for a varied client base, she illustrates a monthly column for The English Garden magazine. Last year she was commissioned to design and illustrate special edition book covers for a series of crime novels based in Dorset by bestselling author Rachel Mclean. Maria has her own range of prints and greetings cards that can be purchased on her Etsy shop – MariaBurnsart.
