Artist’s Statement:

Starting to paint seriously in retirement ,and, finding a style of my own and feeling confident with it is an ongoing process. I like to use colour and light to capture the spirit of the landscape around me. Using mainly oils I aim for loose expressive brush strokes and palette knife marks to blend and scrape. Trying to express emotion and give shape to things not necessarily seen by others involves a degree of artistic license. My inspiration comes from the French impressionists and the Scottish colourists and of course from the beautiful countryside around me here in Purbeck and beyond.
