Julie Herring is an Artist/Tutor whose work focuses on the natural world.  With an appreciation of the English landscape, her inspiration for drawings, paintings and prints come from observing the design and beauty of natural forms, collected throughout the changing seasons.

"I have always been interested in the pursuit of p "I have always been interested in the pursuit of perfection and had an interest in repetitive action in order to achieve this. This initially was through setting rules and impossible goals for myself, where the act of ‘doing’ became the work of art and the physical work became a by-product of this act." ⠀ ⠀ "My professional life has taken me into teaching and this has impacted upon my practice, my narrative and outcomes. Teaching has introduced me to other techniques and processes and enabled me to produce more physical work with meaning and intent. A teaching colleague first introduced me to paper cutting through a scheme of work we were teaching and I loved this mindful activity and the idea of a blank piece of paper and transforming it through taking away. Wendy Rugman studied Art history for several years Wendy Rugman studied Art history for several years. It was on a trip to Cézanne’s Provence that she decided to have a go at painting herself. Wendy Jeavons set up Red Brick Glass with funding Wendy Jeavons set up Red Brick Glass with funding from The Crafts Council in 2000 after graduating from Edinburgh College of Art. Her work is available online and in a number of shops and galleries. She also works to commission, making personalised bespoke glassware. Pastels are my more recent passion, all of local Purbeck scenes. A range of etching prints are also on display. Our Mission Statement

The Purbeck Art Weeks (PAW) Festival celebrates art in all its various forms.

It seeks to inspire and support visual and performing artists to achieve their potential, involves people from across the community and encourages everyone to participate and to enjoy a wide range of arts.

Our background image is by Sophie Jenkins.

It was one of the winning entries for our competition to find our brochure cover, programme cover and poster images.

The theme for 2020 is Changing Seasons.
