Artist’s Statement:

After a career in Art Education l moved to The Isle of Purbeck from Oxfordshire, where my ideas had been mainly expressed photographically. I always need to investigate my world and respond to it, and this new environment gave me the opportunity to explore and revisit painting. To find new ways to represent the emotionality of the moment in a landscape and delve into the ways of colour has been a constant preoccupation. Last year was very exciting as l was selected for ‘The Instinct of Hope’ exhibition curated by DVA at Durlston and the 171st Open at the RWA in Bristol. These opportunities gave me the chance to take my ideas further and to experiment in fully abstracting the landscape, examples of which can be seen at my painting studio at Sandy Hill Arts, Corfe Castle where l work from.
