Andy Knill, Swanage-based PAW artist, is the curre Andy Knill, Swanage-based PAW artist, is the current 'Artist in Residence' at Knoll House Hotel, Studland. A curation of colour and line drawings, Andy Knill Art's work is currently displayed in the wardroom and lounges at the hotel, and will be available to view and until the end of October. PAW artist, Paul Barron, is taking part in an onli PAW artist, Paul Barron, is taking part in an online exhibition called 'The Big Pause: Reflections of Lockdown'. The collection of work features lockdown-inspired pictures and is available to view online until the 19th October. PAW artist Cathy Veale features in this month's Do PAW artist Cathy Veale features in this month's Dorset Life magazine. Based in Swanage, Cathy paints large watercolour seascapes, taking inspiration from the surrounding coastline and from being a keen sailor. She concentrates on the effects of light and colour on water and, in the article, describes how, 'After scanning the scene and deciphering each colour, I then look for shapes, patterns and contrasts in tone and without too much planning, I let the picture evolve as I am painting. Watercolour is a wonderfully fresh and direct medium to use and lends itself to painting water. It particularly appeals to me in the way that it can be applied as subtle washes to capture the transient effects of light, mood and colour, particularly when painting seascapes.' The Purbeck Art Weeks (PAW) Festival celebrates art in all its various forms.

It seeks to inspire and support visual and performing artists to achieve their potential, involves people from across the community and encourages everyone to participate and to enjoy a wide range of arts.

Our background image is by Sophie Jenkins.

It was one of the winning entries for our competition to find our brochure cover, programme cover and poster images.

The theme for 2020 is Changing Seasons.
