Essence of Purbeck Photography by Clare Western
Clare became fascinated with photography while studying at the Hertfordshire College of Art and Design. Although passionate about photography, she decided her main interest was graphic design which she went on to study at Watford. On graduating she found employment at a local advertising agency as a graphic designer then art director. Her duties included designing layouts for photos, then art directing photo shoots either in studios or on location, briefing photographers and illustrators and liaising with photo libraries.
More recently she gained a City and Guilds in Photography and set up her own darkroom at home. She then became a volunteer photographer for the English Heritage Millennium Project where she located then photographed many of their listed buildings for inclusion on their website.
But it was during her many years of dog walking in Purbeck when she became absorbed by the natural shapes and patterns around her which became the Essence of Purbeck. None of her images have been digitally altered or manipulated.
She is a member of the Chartered Society of Designers.
