My work aims to capture the simplest features and gestures of landscapes and bodies as a way of exploring what’s around me. By translating maps and sketches into embroidered outlines I focus on the movement, or the defining forms of the subjects.

For my landscapes I take a dominant topographical feature – for instance the footpaths, contour lines, or waterways – and use that to explore the terrain. For portraits I try to render the energy and movement of the pose. Most of my works are drawn, or embroidered in cream thread on cream calico, although I have recently been experimenting with colour.
