Stitch by stitch I create pictures that make me happy and hopefully, you too. I am Anna Tayler, born in Sweden and by way of Australia and Bristol, I have ended up in beautiful Dorset.
I love sewing, something I have inherited from my Mormor – maternal grandmother in Swedish – who made me many a dress as a little girl. I now sew my own dresses as well as create textile art using free motion embroidery. The textures and depth created using a sewing machine on a flat piece of fabric always amazes me. Folding, cutting and sewing a flat piece of fabric into a piece of 3D clothing is such a creative, imaginative and fulfilling experience.
My Mormor used to knit for the Red Cross…. I sew for ‘Dress a Girl Around the World’. To date I have sewn over 400 dresses and I now host a monthly charity Sewing Bee at my sewing studio. Beginners, improvers and experienced sewers all come together and we sew dresses, shorts and more for this amazing charity. Contact me for more details if you’d like to drop by.
